🏆 IT students of Lat Krabang win the championship from the stage “CIIM NEXT GEN CREATORS 2026” advancing AI and innovation for the future
School of Information Technology, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang congratulates Mr. Jiraphat Wichaidit, a 2nd year undergraduate student in Information Technology (IT) and his team, who won the championship and a cash prize of 30,000 baht from the competition “CIIM NEXT GEN CREATORS 2026: Innovation for Humankind,” a nationwide student competition focusing on AI and innovation.
The competition was organized by the College of Innovation Management and Industry (CIIM), KMITL, in collaboration with the Faculty of Dentistry, KMITL, on September 4–5, 2026, during the Ladkrabang Exhibition 2026 / KMITL EXPO 2026. It provided opportunities for students from universities nationwide to develop ideas and create innovative works with a focus on applying AI technology to solve problems and benefit society under the concept 'Innovation for Humankind'.
The competition covered four categories: Healthcare & Oral Health Innovation, Climate Technology, Digital Infrastructure, and Smart City.
For this competition, Mr. Jiraphat Wichaidit participated as part of the team “Thanomabanglaew” together with peers from other institutions: Mr. Chanothai Jansrinak and Mr. Thanawat Thongchai, both 2nd year undergraduate students from the Faculty of Engineering, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi. They presented their work 'AgriVision' under the topic Climate Technology.
AgriVision’s key concept is to assist farmers in coping with the variability and uncertainty of climate by focusing on water management for durian cultivation, enabling farmers to know the appropriate amount of water and watering schedule up to 7 days in advance.
The work applies Sentinel-2 satellite image data combined with weather data from the Meteorological Department to evaluate relevant data and environmental factors, then calculates together with formulas and principles from research to analyze the optimal water quantity and watering duration for durian trees.
In addition, the team used Large Language Model (LLM) technology to develop a digital assistant so farmers can inquire about information and questions regarding durian cultivation and care in an easy-to-understand language. They also developed AI for predicting trends up to 7 days ahead to support more efficient water management decision-making.
The AgriVision concept aims to reduce both overwatering and underwatering, minimizing water resource waste and cultivation costs, as well as reducing risks that could affect durian tree health and yield from changing weather conditions.
From the presentation and the committee’s evaluation, team “Thanomabanglaew” won the championship and received a cash prize of 30,000 baht. This achievement reflects the capability of IT students at Lat Krabang to apply AI technology and innovation knowledge to solve problems and benefit the agricultural sector and society in the future.
