Congratulations to Team ThunderPermanent, undergraduate students from the School of Information Technology, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, who won thechampionship awardfor their project development to prevent Romance Scams at the Google Securing Digital Trust: Thailand Anti-Scam Ideathon 2026 held on March 26, 2026, organized by Google Thailand in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DES), the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), and the ASEAN Foundation.
The work “Luxurer (Are You Sure Love?)” Public Awareness AI-Powered Detection is an innovation that aims not only to
“teach to remember” but also to “warn to awaken,” enabling users to quickly recognize and respond to the risks of Romance Scams. It applies technologies from Google, including Gemini 1.5 Pro / 3 Flash, Vertex AI, Cloud Vision API, and Looker Studio to develop an easy-to-use system where users do not need to download additional platforms; they just copy suspicious scam text and send it via LINE OA. The system assesses the Risk Score with advice and decision-making information. If a scam trend is detected, users can share the information further to help raise awareness and spread safety to those around them immediately.
The ThunderPermanent team members behind this work include Ms. Paradee Pimnlaiksorn (3rd-year undergraduate student, Business Data Science and Analytics), Mr. Pongsura Pongpisan and Mr. Ekachat Staphol (3rd-year undergraduate students, Artificial Intelligence Technology)
Following this success, Team ThunderPermanent, as Youth Ambassadors for Digital Safety, will have the opportunity to participate in the Online Safety Dialogue: Addressing Online Fraud and Scams in APAC Together in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on April 28, 2026.
This marks another significant step in advancing knowledge, exchanging experiences, and contributing as young forces to create a safer digital society internationally.
