Full Tuition Waivers

This scholarship is allocated to a student who studies Master course under Research Plans (Plan 1) and Doctoral course(Plan 1). A student who is selected will obtain Full Tuition Waivers during the regular study period. Also, a scholar has no any obligation or bond with the Faculty after graduation. 

1. Types and Numbers of Scholarships

  • Phd-1 scholarships
    • For students admitted, either with a Master degree or a Bachelor degree, to Plan 1 of a Doctoral Program in Information Technology that focuses on research with no coursework.
    • The number of available Phd-1 scholarships is 1.
  • Phd-2 scholarships
    • For students admitted, either with a Master degree or a Bachelor degree, to Plan 1 of a Doctoral Program in Information Technology that focuses on research with no coursework.
    • The number of available Phd-2 scholarships is 5.
  • MS-1 scholarships
    • For students admitted to Plan A1 of Master of Science Program in Information Technology that focuses on research with no coursework.
    • The number of available MS-1 scholarships is 1.
  • MS-2 scholarships
    • For students admitted to Plan A1 of Master of Science Program in Information Technology that focuses on research with no coursework.
    • The number of available MS-2 scholarships is 5.

2. Scholarship Value and Duration

  • Phd-1 scholarships
    • Full tuition fee exemption
    • Salary: 10,000 baht /month
    • Duration is not exceeding 3 academic years for recipients entering with a Master degree and not exceeding 5 academic years for recipients entering with a Bachelor degree
  • Phd-2 scholarships
    • Full tuition fee exemption
    • Duration is not exceeding 3 academic years for recipients entering with a Master degree and not exceeding 5 academic years for recipients entering with a Bachelor degree
  • MS-1 scholarships
    • Full tuition fee exemption
    • Salary: 9,000 baht /month
    • Duration is not exceeding 2 academic years
  • MS-2 scholarships
    • Full tuition fee exemption
    • Duration is not exceeding 2 academic years

3. Qualifications

Eligible candidates must have the following qualifications:   

  • must not be a Thai citizen.
  • must have achieved the following
    • To be eligible for MSc scholarships, students must have earned a Bachelor degree overall GPA with no less than 3.00 on a 4.0 scale OR have research publications in Scopus or ISI.
    • To be eligible for PhD scholarships,
      • a) Students entering with a Bachelor degree must have a Bachelor degree overall GPA of no less than 3.25 on a 4.0 scale OR have research publications in Scopus or ISI.
      • b) Students entering with a Master degree must have earned a Bachelor degree overall GPA with no less than 3.25 on a 4.0 scale OR have earned a Master degree overall GPA with no less than 3.5 on a 4.0 scale OR have research publications in Scopus or ISI.
  • must have obtained one of the following test scores and meets the minimum requirements specified:

The scores must be obtained from a test taken within two years before the application deadline.

5. How to Apply

  • Please download an application form from this website and submit it and supporting documents at the Office of Educational Services, Faculty of Information Technology, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang. OR submit them by mail or
  • Email: atcharaphorn@it.kmitl.ac.th (please write the email subject as “Applying for Postgraduate Study Scholarships for Foreign Students”).

6. Selection Process

  • Applicants are required to make a 15 minute presentation of their research plan to the committee. Marks will be awarded for various components such as presentation, questions and answers as well as academic records.
  • The decision of the Selection Committee is final.

7. Terms and Conditions

Recipients must submit both an academic progress report and a thesis progress report to the Faculty of Information Technology every semester.

  • MS Scholarship Recipients
    • The recipients must pass a thesis/dissertation topic examination or a thesis/dissertation proposal examination within the 3rd semester of the regular study plan, and
    • have at least one research article published, which is a part of the recipient’s study. The article must be accepted for publication within the 3rd semester of the regular study plan in a journal or a conference proceeding listed in SCOPUS or SIS database and approved by the Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Information Technology.
  • PhD Scholarship Recipients
    • Recipients must pass a qualifying examination within the 3rd semester of the regular study plan, and
    • have the first research article, which is a part of the recipient’s study, accepted for publication within the 3rd semester of the regular study plan in a journal or a conference proceeding listed in SCOPUS or SIS database and approved by the Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Information Technology, and
    • have the second research article, which is a part of the recipient’s study, accepted for publication within the 5th semester of the regular study plan in a journal or a conference proceeding listed in SCOPUS or SIS database and approved by the Academic Affairs Committee of the Faculty of Information Technology.
  • Recipients are required to follow the instructions, rules and regulations of the Institute pertaining to student status. Recipients shall not breach any laws or student’s rules and regulations. Recipients shall not commit any acts of disciplinary misconduct and must not, contemporaneously, receive scholarships from any other sources.
  • Recipients are required to be a teaching assistant for some courses or other assignments assigned by the Faculty of Information Technology.
