Faculty of Information Technology King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (IT-KMITL) was formally established in 1996. Over the past 20 years, there have been many changes in terms of technology, education, economy and society.

Undoubtedly, ‘changes’ is a word of the era. And information technology is at the center of these undergoing changes. But the important factor of the IT era is the quality of human resources. While today’s technology is something that anyone can access, the difference lies in the role and relationship between people and technology. Some people choose to be technology consumers. Some choose to be a technology developer. Others may choose to apply the technology for various benefits.

As in other countries around the world, Thailand and the region are at a major turning point, where our future depends on which roles people choose to play in this information technology era. And the educational institutions like ourselves are in a period of change too, just like other organizations and businesses.

At IT-KMITL, learning is pushed beyond the physical limit of a traditional classroom. The campus area and beyond is a big living laboratory and a place for students to learn. In addition to the role of creating a learning environment to develop people who can both ‘Think and Act’, we play another two important roles in being at the connection point between youth people and business/industry sectors. First, through various social services, we are actively engaged in promoting learning and developing computer skills among youths, many of whom to become future IT personnel. Another important role is as a source of technology and innovation that can lead to real-world use in social and business sectors, adding value and competitiveness to businesses and industries as well as improving the quality of life.

We are at a remarkable time in the history of technology and innovation. But above all, youth and young generation must realize the role and responsibility for the future of the region and the world. Let’s come together in driving the country and the region to become a place where our society can live and grow together with technology, wisely and sustainably. And this should be achieved while maintaining the identity of the region’s respected art and culture.
